2008 Stonebrooke Junior Golf Programs, Lessons & Leagues

Stonebrooke Junior Golf Association

We are proud to announce the start of the Stonebrooke Junior Golf Association (SJGA) to offer a wide array of opportunities for juniors of all ages and skill levels to enjoy the great game of golf. With an SJGA membership, juniors will:

• accumulate points of participation to earn prizes throughout the year
• receive a discount on all junior programs and events at Waters Edge and Stonebrooke Golf Courses
• receive an SJGA hat, towel, rule book, bag tag and much more 
• have priority to sign up for the following leagues, instruction, teams and programs           

SJGA dues are $40. All Stonebrooke and Waters Edge programs are available to non-association memebers if spots are available after association players have registered.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     

Instruction

Pee Wee Snag Golf for New Golfers Ages Four to Six                 Basic skills are learned in a fun way in this program designed for new golfers under the age of seven. The equipment is bigger and easy to use. Sessions are one hour long, with a maximum of 12 golfers per session. Pick a session with the days, dates and times best for you:

• PW1    Saturdays at 10 a.m. (May 10, 17, 24 and June 7)
• PW2    Saturdays at 10 a.m. (June 21, 28 and July 12, 19)
• PW3    Mondays at 10 a.m. (June 9, 16, 23, 30)
• PW4    Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. (June 24 and July 1, 8, 15)

Cost: $60 or $40 for SJGA members

Little Linkers Golf Program for Boys & Girls Ages 6-12     Little Linkers is for boys and girls ages six to 12 who are new to the game or for those with one or two years of junior golf instruction who need a little refresher of the basic FUNdamentals. This 7-week-long program begins on Tuesday, June 17. Choose from a Beginner or Intermediate session:

• LL1    Beginners, Tuesdays, 9-10 a.m. (Play dates weeks 4 & 7)
• LL2    Intermediate, Tuesdays 10:15-11:15 a.m. (Play dates weeks 3, 5, 7)

Cost: $115 or $90 for SJGA members

Bantam Junior Instruction                                                             This program is designed for boys and girls who have been in the junior golf program for more than two years, feel they have graduated from Little Linkers and are ready for advanced learning. Instruction is held EVERY OTHER Monday morning from 8-9:30 a.m., beginning June 16 for six alternating weeks. The first half of the day is instruction and the second half is play of skills competition. Class size is limited to 20 students.

• BAN1    Mondays, 8-9:30 a.m. (Every other week beginning June 16)

Cost: $115 or $90 for SJGA members

Junior Golf Camp                                                               This week-long camp is for the junior player, with lessons, playing, prizes, skill competition and lunch every day. Our assistant golf professional staff will develop a lesson plan to help your child get the instruction they need. The camp will include all range balls, green fees, events, lunch or breakfast, prizes and instruction. The size of the camp will be limited. If you would like to receive information when the date(s) and time(s) are available, please call our Pro Shop at 952-496-3171, Ext. 1 and we will contact you when the schedule is set.

Junior Clinics                                                                   During the year our golf professional staff will conduct Junior Only Clinics. Topics and dates will be posted on this website and on the Information Board at Stonebrooke and Waters Edge clubhouses.

Cost: $15 or $5 for SJGA members                                                                         

Junior Playing and Leagues

Golfers wishing to participate in any league or competition must first take and pass a "rules and etiquette quiz." Quizzes may be picked up in the Pro Shops.

Waters Edge Playing League for Intermediate Golfers                      Back by popular demand! This league is for intermediate golfers looking to get on the course in a fun yet competitive league. Prizes will be awarded for individual and team games.

• Friday mornings (Seven weeks beginning June 20)

Cost: $120 or $100 for SJGA members. Waters Edge Golfing Members pay only $40.

Stonebrooke Swingers Golf Tour for Boys & Girls Ages 12-18           Boys and girls ages 12-18 are invited to play in this tour on select Thursday mornings at Stonebrooke Golf Club. Play will be divided by gender and ability, with 9- and 18-hole competitions. Players must have proven playing ability to compete. Events require pre-registration and will be posted on this website and the SJGA Information Board at Stonebrooke and Waters Edge clubhouses.

Cost: From $15 to $35 depending on member and association status.

Minnesota Junior Golf Association Team                                   Stonebrooke Golf Club is proud to announce that we will be hosting an MGA Junior Golf Team for 2008. Players must be a member in good standing at Stonebrooke Golf Club. The team will compete in three local events and hopefully qualify for the Regional and State Tournaments. The team requires four to six players per event. If needed, a qualifier will be held to determine competing players for the local events. More information to come.

Minnesota PGA Transition Tour Event at Waters Edge                   Waters Edge will host a MN PGA Transition Tour event on June 16, 2008. Advance registration is required through the Minnesota section of the PGA website - www.minnesotapga.com
